Theresia Lavergne has been involved in agriculture throughout her life. She was born in south Florida, where her family owned a beef processing and meat packing plant, and later moved to central Florida where she grew up on a Thoroughbred broodmare farm. She was an active member of 4‑H for 10 years, participating in livestock projects and judging teams. Theresia earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal and Dairy Sciences from Auburn University, followed by a Master of Science degree in monogastric nutrition from Mississippi State University and a Ph.D. in monogastric nutrition from Louisiana State University. She began her professional career with Land O’Lakes Feed as a Swine Technical Service Manager, a role she held for two years. She then spent nearly 17 years with the LSU AgCenter as a Professor and State Poultry Extension Specialist. In 2016, Theresia returned to industry as a Monogastric Technical Services Manager with Arm & Hammer Animal and Food Production, supporting probiotic and prebiotic products for the poultry industry.
