John Mitchell becomes Executive Director of NEAFA

Natural Biologics’ board member John Mitchell takes on role of executive director at NEAFA

Starting with the new year, John Mitchell, a member of Natural Biologics’ Board of Directors, will take the reins as Executive Director of the Northeast Agribusiness and Feed Alliance.  John takes over from Rick Zimmerman, who has stepped back from the Executive Director role to focus on lobbying activities in support of Northeast agriculture.

John grew up in New Berlin, NY and started working in the family feed business when he was 14.  In 1979, a few years after completing a degree at Cornell University, John took over running the I.L. Richer Company which his grandfather had started in 1870.  All along the way, John was active in feed industry trade associations and played a pivotal role in the formation of NEAFA through the merger of the Eastern Federation of Feed Merchants and the New England Feed and Grain Council.

John has set some ambitious goals for his tenure as Executive Director of NEAFA such as working closely with the board of directors to implement the 2021 strategic plan, fostering collaboration with other ag organizations in the region and across the country, strongly supporting the educational efforts of PRO-Dairy, increasing NEAFA’s membership and the involvement of those members, and lastly to have fun.

At Natural Biologics we are proud to have our board member, friend and mentor, taking on such a vital role for the agribusiness community of the northeast.  Congratulations, John!
